Marathon Texas is a city in the stars. It measures as
one of the darkest places you can go to without going into actual space, but
with an elevation of 500 feet, you might as well be in space. The town is
located in a large basin, meaning that it is surrounded on all sides by
mountains.
To the south of Marathon lies Big Bend National Park.
This is one of the least light-polluted places in the state and was awarded the
Gold Tier Dark Sky award, meaning it has virtually zero light pollution.
